Save Tour de Feminin – Help Keep the Tradition of Women’s Cycling Alive

Project Introduction
Tour de Feminin is a race that has been held regularly since 1988 at the beginning of summer in Krásná Lípa, right next to the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. It was born out of a love for sport and with the goal of showing that cycling is not exclusively for men. However, this race is about more than just sport – it is closely tied to the story of the Vích family, who built it from scratch and gradually brought it to an international level. Today, however, Tour de Feminin is facing serious financial difficulties, and sadly, there is a real risk that this long-standing tradition may come to an end.
Who is behind the project
After the founder, his daughter Šárka Víchová was meant to carry on the legacy of the race. Šárka was a talented cyclist and national team member, and she herself competed in the Tour de Feminin several times. Among the long and impressive list of winners, her name also appears—she finished third overall in 1992. Sadly, her dream of continuing the Tour de Feminin was cut short by a tragic event—Šárka passed away from cancer.
A Story That Connects Us
Her story is not only sad, but also deeply powerful. Cancer took her life, but the legacy of her and her family’s efforts lives on. To this day, we continue to follow the original vision and fight to keep the race alive. We believe that this legacy can serve as a strong and inspiring message—not only for women’s sport, but for everyone.
Today, Tour de Feminin is a prestigious international cycling race that attracts top teams from around the world every year. Last year, 23 teams took part, featuring more than 170 riders from 22 countries. This strong participation highlights the race’s importance and popularity on the international scene.
Organizing an event of this scale requires the collaboration of hundreds of people—including international referees, emergency services, organizers, and volunteers—who ensure everything runs smoothly and safely across all stages. Over the course of four days, the riders tackle demanding routes that span more than 300 kilometers in total, underscoring the race’s intensity and professional level.
Partnership with the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer
Cancer affected us all—but it also strengthened the new organizers’ determination to carry on. That’s why, this year, we have partnered with the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer, an organization that supports women in their fight against this disease. Our campaign is not just about saving the race, but also about standing with all women battling cancer.
Through this partnership, we aim not only to continue the tradition of Tour de Feminin, but also to express solidarity with those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Your support will help keep the race alive—and it may also help real women through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Save the Tradition. Help Us Keep Going.
The Tour de Feminin is a symbol of hope, strength, and perseverance. We don’t want its story to end prematurely. Help us save this long-standing event that carries powerful values—sport, family, tradition, and above all, support for those facing cancer.
How will the funds be used?
At its most essential level, the race’s budget is primarily focused on safety and smooth operation. Safety is our top priority—during the race, we must minimize risks to ensure everything runs exactly as it should.
We want to give riders the space to deliver their best performances. We want fans to enjoy the action from the best spots along the route. And we want everyday life in the region to continue undisturbed. To make all this possible, we rely on skilled organizers and the necessary equipment—some of which must be rented or purchased.
Here is a breakdown of key expenses:
-
160,000 CZK – Meals for the core organizing team during the entire race
-
120,000 CZK – Safety personnel (doctor, drivers, traffic marshals)
-
36,000 CZK – Motorcycle marshals to ensure safety along the race convoy
-
35,000 CZK – Fencing and barriers at the start/finish area
